Drilling Consumables and Advice for Mining Machinery
Quarry Mining has provided drilling consumables and advice on hundreds of projects. We have recently supported the following projects:
North-South Bypass Tunnel, Brisbane
Since 2007, Quarry Mining has been involved with the North-South Bypass Tunnel that is being built in Brisbane.
This is a Leighton Contractors Joint Venture project with Baulderstone Hornibrook and Bilfinger Berger. It is a major Queensland infrastructure development with five work sites.
To be known as the M7 Clem Jones Tunnel, this is a $3.2 billion toll road between Woolloongabba and Bowen Hills in Brisbane.
The major benefit of the tunnel is that it will bypass 18 existing sets of traffic lights, and provide an additional Brisbane River crossing. When completed, it will be the longest road tunnel in Australia.
Essentially, the project consists of:
- Two twin lane 4.8 km-long tunnels - for northbound and southbound traffic
- Cross-passages connecting the tunnels
- Surface connections including nine new bridges and nine bridge widenings
- A ventilation system, including two outlets, for managing in-tunnel air quality
Quarry Mining has continuously supplied drilling consumables and advice to all five individual work sites. The type of gear supplied ranges from pneumatic equipment such as pumps and rock drills to a full range of percussive drilling equipment including roof support and probe drilling consumables.
With our experience we have been able to contribute to the efficiency of this important development.
Boggo Road
The $226 million Boggo Road Busway will provide a dedicated public transport connection from the Princess Alexandra Hospital to the Eleanor Schonell Bridge and the University of Queensland area in Brisbane.
When it is completed, it will be Australia's longest dedicated busway.
Quarry Mining has been involved from the beginning, supplying drilling consumables and advice. As a mark of the value we add, in September Managing Director, Kell Kellstad and General Manager Kari Armitage were invited to attend the Boggo Road Busway Tunnel "breakthrough celebrations".
